Padma Devi

Yoga, Meditation & Ceremonies

  • Founder & President of Heart Of Living Yoga Foundation

“I give, You give, We all receive.”

Padma has been the inspiration of Heart Of Living Yoga and will be leading us all into heart space with a beautiful festival opening ceremony, as well as a special Puja celebration of Anandamayi Ma, sharing Satsangs, meditations, yoga classes and even some laughter yoga!

If you don’t yet know her, she has been practising and living yoga for over 50 years. She is an international yoga teacher who has trained many teachers and ministers and set up several yoga centres, sharing retreats, Satsangs, ceremonies, leading courses and workshops around the world. She is also a mother and grandmother, a professional kinesiologist and a healer who was also in the business world for many years. Living yoga in the heart, her service continues to blossom through the sharing of the Heart Practice, a direct path of meditation which brings us into communion with the Beloved.

In 2006 Rev. Padma went to Sri Lanka to visit an orphanage and ashram where her guru had lived for many years. It was during that visit to Sri Lanka, soon after the tsunami, that she discovered there were children who were worse off outside the orphanage. She asked 2 questions –how can we find them and how can we help? The answer to those questions, began the work of the charity “Heart Of Living Yoga Foundation”, whose projects now spread across 5 countries. You can find out more details and how to help HERE

Padma lives and breathes yoga and service to all, while sharing her joyful heart with everyone. She aims to live as an authentic human being, loving, serving and having fun. Her favourite saying is “Just Love” – she says it is the perfect description of Reality and the only instruction we ever need, all rolled into just two words.

  • Padma will lead the opening and closing ceremonies at Heart Festival, and the Saturday night Anandamayi Ma Puja. She will also lead our late evening Heart Meditation to close each day, and share a yoga practice on Thursday that follows the opening ceremony.

There will be the possibility to receive Sacred Mantra Initiation at a private ceremony at the Heart Festival. If your heart is calling you to this, or you wish to find out more, please email revpadma@gmail.com

    Heart Meditation

This is the simple way to meditate! Instead of trying to quiet the mind, we direct it to the place within us - the spiritual heart - which is always peaceful and loving, joyful and light. Learning to allow awareness to rest here, to stay focused in the heart, is a wonderful blessing for ourselves and for the whole of creation. We look forward to sharing this special experience with you at Heart Festival!

  • The Embodied Voice

In this workshop we will use mantras, meditative movement, sound and song to explore the relationship between our voices, our bodies and our inner most being. Our singing voices are the most direct connection to our deepest expression. When we invite freedom in our voice, irrespective of ability, along with connection and resonance in our body, we open the door to a profound inner inquiry that supports us to know and express ourselves authentically, honestly and openly.

Typical instruments played may include Himalayan singing bowls, various gongs, crystal singing bowls and percussive instruments. The aim of the session is for deep relaxation whilst the sound vibrations wash through the auric field and subtle energy system, cleansing the auric field and subtle energy channels. Typical experiences previously fed back from attendees vary, and include: a feeling of being hot or cold in certain parts of the body or whole body, tingling sensations, visualising colours and geometric shapes, being transported to different dimensions and twitching as energy shifts. In some cases, there have been emotional releases as the sound vibrations trigger mental or emotional attachments or memories. These are all perfectly normal experiences and individuals may encounter various sensations dependent on the frequencies, harmonics, intervals and overtones received. There is an opportunity after the soundbath for sharing, feedback, questions or just remaining relaxed in the energy created during the session. For more personal questions, please feel free to ask me after closing the session.

    Qi Gong

After an initial warm up session, various body movements and mudras will stretch the meridians of the body, inviting Qi to flow freely for health and vitality. Soft shoes can be worn.
